Product Details of Hitachi Microdrive HMS360404D5CF00 4 GB Plug-in Module Hard Drive

Description

It's a fact, in the world of storage capacity, bigger is better. But when it comes to portability, small and light is the way to go. Hitachi's new Microdrive 3K4 digital media marries its go-anywhere size to 4 GB's of record-it-all storage. No bigger than a matchbook and just as light, the Microdrive will fit 75 hours of high-quality music into the change pocket of your jeans. Or swap out all those songs for a DVD movie. At 4GB, it's four times bigger than its predecessor and much more economical than standard flash memory. More capacity means more photos, more music, more data, more possibilities.

Hitachi Microdrive Highly Recommended

Strengths: Huge capacity; speed; reliability; economical

Weakness: None

The microdrive works great in my Canon EOS 20D SLR. It is incredibly fast; even shooting raw I have never had to wait for the drive to finish writing before taking another photo. I have had not even a hint of reading or writing error. The price is actually inexpensive when compared to the cost of ordinary CF cards.

Hitachi Microdrive HMS360404D5CF00 4 GB Plug-in...

Strengths: Large capacity, small size

Weakness: Possible fragility since it is an actual hard drive.

I've been nothing but pleased so far with the performance of the Hitachi microdrive. I bought it for use in a Canon 20D. Performs as I had hoped. Seems plenty fast - large amount of storage obviates the necessity of carrying around many cards or needing a device to offload one's pictures during a shoot. I've used an IBM 1Gig microdrive for over 3 years with zero problems, so am hoping for similar...

Hitachi Microdrive HMS360404D5CF00 4 GB Plug-in...

Strengths: Fast, Large, and pefect for Digital Camera Applications or other demanding tasks

Weakness: None

I took a chance buying from Hitachi due to the fact that before Hitachi took over IBM's drive operations, they had many problems with their drives. I have 3 hard drives that are defective from IBM. But I took a chance and bought the 4GB Micro Drive anyway. So far I am happy to say that I have had no problems with it and it seems to be performing perfectly in my Canon PowerShot S70. The transfer...

Hitachi Microdrive HMS360404D5CF00 4 GB Plug-in...

Strengths: Packaging, accessories, capacity of storage

Weakness: None yet

The microdrive and the PCMCIA adapter came nicely protected in durable and reusable small platic boxes. Hitchi provides an adapter that let you directly use the Microdrive with you laptop, without the need of a card reader. That is the travel dimension. Also, the 4 Gb capacity will let you picture everything in the highest resolution. No risk of being short of memory, thus of memories!

Hitachi Microdrive HMS360404D5CF00 4 GB Plug-in...

Strengths: Great product for the money.

Weakness: None whatsoever, though the 5 gig Hitachi will be even better when avaiable.

The Hitachi 4 gig is a tremendous value, eclipsed only when the 5 gig drive becomes available as CF Type II. It works great on my Pocket PC for recording and playing movies. I can get about 3-6 movies, depending on the length--wonderful for long trips with the kids in the car!

Hitachi Microdrive HMS360404D5CF00 4 GB Plug-in...

Strengths: Easy to use, great features

Weakness: None

This is the second microdrive I have purchased. THe first being an IBM 1GB. For this 4GB, I am using with an Olympus 8GB SLR digital camera. Hitachi made the IBM microdrives.

Hitachi 4GB Microdrive Review

...In conclusion, I would say that the microdrive does the job for me. It doubled my storage from 2GB to 4GB for about the same price. In practice, it works like a charm with the Canon 20D, so I would assume that it works well too with lower-end cameras. If you want to buy a high capacity flashcard, I would recommend considering the microdrives.
